Making a Difference Together

Over the past year, the Junior Auxiliary of Laurel has provided over 2,000 service hours and dedicated more than $62,000 to our service and welfare projects, which have impacted over 3,000 individuals.

Secret Meals

No child should go hungry, especially over the weekend.

Through our Secret Meals project, Junior Auxiliary of Laurel provides weekly shelf-stable snacks to over 350 food-insecure children, giving them nourishment and comfort when school meals aren’t available. With the help of school counselors, we ensure no child is overlooked. Currently, we provide over 12,000 meals at a cost of roughly $42,000—but the impact is priceless!

If you or your business is interested in donating food/money towards Secret Meals, or sponsoring a school, please let us know! You can contact us at jalaurelsecretmeals@gmail.com, or you can contribute our most needed items as listed on our Amazon Wishlist

Junior Auxiliary of Laurel Service Projects

Dedicated volunteers strengthening our community through service, compassion, and lasting impact.

Night Out Against Crime

Crown Club

Crown Club is the high school club associated with Junior Auxiliary. Its purpose is to foster in its members a desire to improve their communities as well as help them develop character and leadership skills. Crown Club members work with LJA members to volunteer with various projects, including our Secret Meals project. Currently 25 girls who reside in Laurel and Jones County are in the Crown Club.

Girl Talk

Girl Talk empowers 7th-9th grade female students to be their best selves, now and in the future. This is done through a series of workshops aimed at equipping the students with the confidence and skills to be successful leaders and make wise choices. Topics such as bullying, body image, goal setting, plus respecting yourself and others vary by grade level and are presented by local professionals and community members through interactive presentations and encouraging messages.

Done In A Day

Our Done in a Day projects allow us to support fellow organizations that share our mission of serving the children of Laurel and Jones County. Whether we’re responding to requests or stepping in when we see a need, LJA volunteers show up where it matters. From beautification efforts and community holiday events to mock interviews that prepare students for the future, these projects make a lasting impact, one day at a time.

Family Matters

Family Matters is more than a name, it’s our promise to support children wherever they are: in schools, foster care, or in crisis. Through partnerships with school counselors, we provide clothing and hygiene items to help students feel confident and cared for. We delivered approximately 94 uniforms, 21 jackets, and 300 hygiene products in the last year alone! / We also support children in the judicial system through Treasured MINDS, supplying comfort kits with puzzles, books, and toys to ease anxiety during interviews. And with Bloom Bags, we offer 48-hour care kits for infants entering foster care, packed with essentials like diapers, bottles, and onesies. At its core, Family Matters ensures every child feels safe, supported, and seen.

Literacy Project

Through the Literacy Project, our members visit first-grade students within the Laurel and Jones County School District to engage in in-person reading sessions before providing each class with take-home literacy kits that include a book, interactive activities, necessary supplies, and parent resources. Along with the in-person reading sessions, the literacy kits are designed to spark a love of reading and writing for all students this project reaches. Overall, the Literacy Project serves approximately 1,000 first graders yearly.

Beyond the entertainment, we also have a wine pull, where participants can win bottles of wine or spirits at various values. This night of fun and fellowship serves as an opportunity for our community to come together and contribute to the well-being of the children of Jones County.
